Steve Jobs To Offer Keynote At Apple Expo Paris In September

by , 11:00 AM EDT, August 26th, 2003

In a short blurb, Macworld UK is reporting that Steve Jobs will be giving the keynote for Apple Expo Paris 2003. Apple Expo Paris 2003 will be held September 16th through the 20th in, perhaps not too surprisingly, Paris. A short quote from the short story from Macworld UK:

Apple this morning announced that Jobs will deliver the keynote speech launching the twentieth Apple Expo Paris at the Palais des Congres at 10am (9am GMT). The exhibition runs September 16-20 at the Porte de Versailles.

There's some speculation on what Apple may or may not announce at the show, as well as a recap on what happened last year, in the full story.

The Mac Observer Spin:

Hmmmm... Makes you wonder. Will Steve Jobs take the opportunity to announce new products? Rumors aside and going strictly by Apple's historical product cycles, the company is due for updates to both the iMac or PowerBook line. Steve Jobs has chosen the Paris show for past announcements, but you have to go back to the Apple Expo Paris of 2000 to find such an occasion. At that time, Apple introduced the Key Lime, Graphite, and Indigo iBooks (bring back memories?). The company also chose that show to officially release the Public Beta of Mac OS X.

On the other hand, 3dfx also released the AGP version of the Voodoo 5500, and we all know how that turned out.

In 2001, Apple canceled the show in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on New York City on September 11th. Last year's show was largely a rehash of Macworld New York 2002.

Today, Apple has made an effort to announce products when they are ready, and not arrange its schedule so closely with major events, so all bets are off. Still, it should be a good show. Judging by the success of the sacrificial Macworld CreativePro show this past summer, a success largely predicated on the Power Mac G5, we expect the Apple Expo Paris show to be rip-roaring.
